What do the different statuses of domain names mean?

Registered: The domain name has been registered by another party and is currently unavailable. Entering the “captcha” code (random coloured code on the left hand side on the bottom of the screen) and clicking on “details” will show you the contact details of the current owner of the domain name.

On hold: The domain name has been blocked by the Registry (EURid) because it is subject to an ADR or because it has been proven that the current owner of the name does not meet the eligibility criteria for .eu.

Blocked: The domain name has been banned by the European Commission or one of the EU member states and can never be registered.

Application Pending: One or several people have applied for the domain name during the Sunrise period. The validation agent has yet to validate all applications for the domain name.

Reserved: This name has been reserved by the Commission or one of the Member States for their own personal use and may not be registered by a member of the general public.

Available: The domain name has not yet been registered by anyone. Anyone based within the European Union is free to register it.
Deleted: The domain name has been deleted, meaning that it is in a 40 day quarantine period before being made available again to the general public for registration.
