What is a .asia domain?

.asia is a top-level domain (TLD) aimed at representing the entire asia-pacific region. The dotAsia extension aims to give greater exposure as opposed to by individual country eg. a .cn or .au domain.

The demand for an Asia specific regional domain is illustrated through the fact that currently users in the Asia Pacific region only have the option of utilising a generic Global Top Level Domain (gTLD). The registrants of which are largely US and European individuals and businesses.
